As a Retrofit specialist, SZM (SchaltanlagenZubehör Bad Muskau) offers a wide range of solutions for the replacement of old and worn switchgears. In order to facilitate the search for the right retrofit solution, SZM has now developed an online configurator tool. This enables customers to configure end-to-end solutions for their existing medium and low voltage applications with 100% plug-and-play products.
 
The tool is aimed at Energy suppliers, Municipal utilities, Industries, Engineering and Planning offices, Switchgear manufacturers and SZM sales partners in many countries around the world. It is designed to help customers gain an initial overview of the solutions that have already been implemented by SZM for many years and to improve technical communication with the customers in sales. Giving few details into the configurator about the old switchgear as well as some technical data such as voltage, power, current etc., a suitable retrofit solution can be found in no time. The configurator is designed for both Desktop and Mobile device web browsers.
 
Over 20 years of experience, SZM has developed more than 250 retrofit solutions and implemented them globally in thousands with switches from reputed manufacturers ranging from A as in AEG to W as in Westinghouse. Initially, the most popular product solutions are included in the configurator including pictures and dimensional drawings which can also be downloaded for customer references. Further solutions will gradually be updated to the configurator.
 
Retrofit solutions from SZM are popular because they bring old switchgears back up to the current state of the art by installing the latest technology, extending its service life and operating time considerably. The retrofit concept is particularly useful when old switchgear requires more maintenance, spare parts are becoming scarce or environmental aspects (low-oil circuit-breakers, SF6 circuit-breakers) may force the company to trade. In such cases, retrofitting by SZM offers an economical alternative, because only the switch as the core component of the system as its ‘heart’ is renewed. This saves money and time, as the complete replacement of the old switchgear is avoided.
