SZM handles power supply for CHP unit

With a MV switchgear, the wiring to the generator and the telecontrol cabinet, SZM manages the power supply to a combined heat and power plant (CHP).

As a regional energy supplier, Stadtwerke Geesthacht not only provides heat but also electricity (two birds at one shot) for the households in the adjoining Geesthacht Hafencity with its two new CHP units.

With the two CHP units (each with an electrical output of 999 kW and a thermal output of 1,289 kW) and two boilers (3,000 kW and 7,000 kW thermal output), Stadtwerke Geesthacht has built a new energy generation plant that follows the principle of combined heat and power generation. Also, in order to operate the plant efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner, buffer storage tanks with a total volume of approx. 400 m³ have been installed. Stadtwerke Geesthacht invested around 2.5 million euros for the building and the energy generation plant.

SchaltanlagenZubehör Bad Muskau (SZM) supplied a reliable, long-lasting power distribution system, which includes the medium-voltage switchgear of low-maintenance, gas-insulated and thus state of the art, the protection technology and the telecontrol system for this purpose and the entire system was wired and connected. As a result, the electricity now flows safely to approximately 1,500 households in the newly developed residential area on the Elbe.
