What may at first appear to be a case for the scrapyard is, for us, a demanding technical challenge: a medium-voltage switchgear truck, visibly damaged by an arc fault, is not simply being discarded but modernised through a tailored retrofit solution. Charred surfaces, destroyed insulators – the damage is clear.
SZM is developing a retrofit solution that allows the operator to continue using the existing switchgear system by replacing the switchgear truck on a 1:1 basis. The goal is not just to swap out defective components but to bring the entire system up to current safety and performance standards. Retrofit means preserving existing resources, sensibly extending the life of old systems, and adapting them to meet today’s technical requirements.
The first step is a detailed on-site assessment, including precise measurements of the damaged switchgear truck. This is followed by the design and construction of a customised retrofit solution. The result: a plug-and-play-ready switchgear truck that fits perfectly into the existing system.
If the customer is satisfied, so are we. And with that, another retrofit solution is born.
