SZM gives lecture at OMICRON symposium

Safety devices perform an important function when faults occur. However, when retrofitting older switchgear, there are a number of things to consider.

The OMICRON user conferences have been held for 30 years now. They take place once a year at different locations, but always with a strong focus on safety and control technology. Over the years, they have established themselves as a fixed agenda item in the calendars of professionals in the electrical and energy industries.

This year's symposium will be held in Lindau on Lake Constance (Germany) from 23 to 25 May. SZM is also taking part this year. Our test engineer Michael Hojka will be holding a seminar on Tuesday 23 May at the user conference together with Andreas Nenning from Omicron on the subject of "Application of self-powered circuit-breakers and protective relays: motivation and practical testing".

The technical lecture will be about the interaction of circuit-breakers and self-powered protective devices and what challenges arise when older switchgear are modernised via retrofit. In other words, when an older protective device meets a new circuit breaker.

SZM is one of the world's leading manufacturers of retrofit switchgear in low and medium voltage. With more than 300 modernisation solutions for retrofitting installations and aging switchgear, we look for the best solution for retrofitting the customer's switchgear regardless of the make in terms of technical feasibility and cost-effectiveness, thereby extending its service life.
